 Mary Nafula Mutoro, an advocate of nineteen years standing, holds the titles of 

Commissioner of Oaths, Notary Public, and Certified Mediator (MIT). 

She commenced her legal career at the State Law Office, Attorney General’s 

Chambers, where she completed her articles. 

Before joining the firm, Mary worked for the World Intellectual Property Organization 

(WIPO), a United Nations specialized agency in Geneva, Switzerland, for five years.

Mary's expertise spans intellectual property law, alternative dispute resolution in

internet domain names, commercial, and conveyancing law.

She has held significant roles, including Joint Secretary to the Task Force on the

Development of Laws for the Protection of Traditional Knowledge, Genetic

Resources, and Folklore in Kenya. Mary is also a member of the Law Society of

Kenya Committee related to ICT/Intellectual Property and was commissioned to

review and finalize the draft bill for the protection of traditional knowledge and

traditional cultural expressions in Kenya. Currently, she serves on the Board of

Directors of the Kenya Industrial Property Institute (KIPI) as a nominee of the Law

Society of Kenya.  

She holds a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) (Hons) degree from the University of Nairobi.
